In 2018, this approach was first piloted in 15 schools within Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts. It\nwas later on scaled to reach 85 schools in 14 districts working with various district education\ndepartments.\nAt the height of the first COVID total lockdown (2020), the roots to rise program was adjusted to be\ndelivered remotely via interactive voice recordings (IVR) technology that is Roots to Rise Ewaka. This\nenabled over 58,000 children to receive automated numeracy lessons.\nCognizant of the criticality of in person instruction during the COVID out of school period, Building\nTomorrow further adapted the classroom based instruction to reach learners out of school through\ncommunity learning camps.\nThis approach anchors TaRL based literacy and numeracy camps in the community, moving away from\nthe traditional reliance on the physical school while still providing dynamic face to face interactions.","coll_dates":[{"start":"2018-01-08","end":"2021-12-02"}],"nation":[{"name":"Uganda","abbreviation":"UG"}],"geog_coverage":"14 districts in Uganda","analysis_unit":"households and individual learners","universe":"Roots to rise reached students in 85 schools within 14 districts","notes":"85 schools in 14 districts in Uganda"},"method":{"data_collection":{"coll_mode":["Face-to-face [f2f]"],"research_instrument":"A total of three surver instruments were used to collect the data on the students performance in literacy and numeracy"}},"data_access":{"dataset_use":{"contact":[{"name":"Building Tomorrow","email":"datarequest@aphrc.org","uri":"https:\/\/relimicrodata.org\/"}],"disclaimer":"The user of the data acknowledges that the original collector of the data, the authorized distributor of the data, and the relevant funding agency bear no responsibility for use of the data or for interpretations or inferences based upon such uses."}}}}
